The WAF student competition is one of the highlights of this years festival. A live charrette based on the festival theme of Rethink and Renew provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their analysis and design skills to WAF’s international community.
For those that have left their student days behind them, the charrette presents the chance to see new ideas and creativity coming from the next generation of architectural pioneers.
This year, students are invited to suggest how they would rethink and renew a building, a group of buildings or an area, transforming the derelict, obsolete or redundant spaces into useful and enjoyable environments for the 21st century.
Shortlisted student teams will be awarded free tickets to the festival and asked to work up their schemes and present live to a festival jury of international architects, who will pick the student team of the year.
Previous winners of the WAF student event have included teams from Harvard and MIT.
This is an ideal opportunity to display exemplary collaborative design work in an international context, and we encourage students across the world to take part.
